Weekend decorator: A 50-year-old family room gets an update that nods to its past

We put a modern addition on our traditional house in the early 1970s and we still love it for our family room, but it’s time for a refresh. Can you help me fix it up?

I love all the warm textures you incorporated into the addition’s architecture, and the wall of windows the face your back yard is fantastic. I imagine there was a time in the 1990s or early 2000s when that brick wall and wood ceiling felt dated, but I’m happy you never changed it, because they’re fabulous and very current right now.
